Ten questions with Frontman Colin Cannon (Coming Soon!)
1. When did you give your life to Christ and how did it happen?
Back when I was a young buck, and living as a heathen (somewhere between ‘86-‘89), there was a man by the name of Charles Radford. Charles was a Christian man who had conviction, he knew my path as well as the road that I was headed down. Every morning at work when he came in a buddy of mine (who was as wild as I was) would say: “Hey Chuck, what’s the good word?” Charles would respond with: “For the wages of sin is death, put the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our savior.-Romans 6:23. We would both chuckle, and hee haw it up thinking it was
funny. But Charles was planting a seed on rocky soil, there were quite a few others from that point forward that nurtured that seed, and watered that seed. In 2006 while doing a Wednesday night study at my church with my wife, we had just finished a study about Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch. Well, that was it, that was the night everything came together February 8, 2006. In closing, I just want the reader to know that the devil even had his hand on my shoulder and trying to pull me back that night. That particular day the pump had gone out in the baptistery and they had to drain it and change the pump in it so the water that was in the baptistery that evening was ice cold. But my conviction was something that had grown over 20 years and I knew that was the night. When I went under that water, it was the coldest I’ve ever been. But when I came out of that water I felt Christ’s embrace and it was the warmest I have ever been.
2. What is your favorite concert you have attended as a fan?
I’ve probably been to well over 200/300+ concerts in my life. However, to try and narrow it down to one ... it would probably be one of those. But I view it all as relative so it could probably change on any given day. Let’s just say I love music.
3. What is the most enjoyable thing about singing with God's Dirt?
I enjoy God's Dirt's style and message. The men involved with the band both past and present are men of God and faith and the type of character I want to be a part of, iron sharpens iron.
4. What is your favorite God's Dirt song?
Jesus Rides
5. What is your greatest accomplishment outside of God's Dirt?
My wife, children and now grandchildren.
6. What are some of your favorite hobbies and interests?
Music, drawing, fishing and time spent with my family.
7. What and who are your greatest musical influences?
Classic Rock and Classic Country are my go to at any given time, it’s the variety and familiarity of 70’s music I enjoy the most.
8. Where do you like to go to "get away from it all"?
In the woods or on a mountain top, it brings peace and reflection. It’s been my place since I was a kid.
9. Besides God's Dirt, what other ministries have you been involved in?
I’ve played in several Christian bands since becoming a Christian six or eight in all. My family and I also served in a homeless ministry, called Light of Salvation Ministries (sadly it no longer exists) However, I’ve always had a heart for the homeless and the poor. We are all just a few short bad decisions from being that person with no support group.
10. What is the best God's Dirt concert you have ever done?
Great Bend, KS -2018
