Bart Jackson (Drums)
TEN QUESTIONS WITH DRUMMER BART JACKSON
1. When did you give your life to Christ and how did it happen?
In college I began seeking answers about The Gospel.
Ironically it was a relationship gone bad that was the turning point where many of my questions were answered with one inescapable conclusion. Christ lives. It was Stephen's testimony that put me over the edge.
2. What other ministries have you been involved in?
I spent several years as a Young Life leader and I have spent the last 25 years serving on the drums in my church.
3. What is your "day job"?
I am an animal healthcare representative.
4. What is your favorite God's Dirt song and why?
Runaway. Do you think God is done with you? Is Satan telling you that you are not loved? Listen to the song!
5. What and who are your greatest musical influences?
I grew up on classic rock like 38 Special, The Eagles, and Bob Seger. Loved Canadian rockers Triumph and Rush. When I became a Christian it was all Third Day!
6. What was the best gig you ever played and why?
Several years ago a gig almost got cancelled at an orphanage we played at. We still showed up and played to just a couple dozen people. I gave the message that night and afterwards prayed with a young lady that had grown up being abused by her father. She accepted Christ that night. Priceless.
7. Who inspired you to become a musician?
My Uncle Bobby who was in a 60's garage band on drums. Miss VandeBunt my 4th grade teacher who shared music with us. Gregg Mowen, my senior year band director and the greatest music teacher I ever had. RIP brother!
8. What are your hobbies and interests?
History. Especially WW1 and WW2 and the Revolution. I also love history about NASA. I love playing bubble hockey and customizing the game to look like Joe Louis Arena where my beloved Red Wings played when I was young.
9. What advice would you give an aspiring musician?
Have fun and play for the Audience of One that gave you your talent.
10. What is your greatest accomplishment outside of God's Dirt?
Raising two incredible daughters with their Mother in such a way that both have received Christ. My oldest daughter now leads worship for Delight Ministries at Miami of Ohio and my youngest seems to be following in her footsteps in a multitude of ways. This Dad is blessed!
